Short-term rentals are a growing importance to the economy. Whether it is homesharing or a traditional vacation rental, these properties provide jobs and economic opportunity for thousands of people. Studies have shown that guests of vacation rentals stay longer and spend more than hotel guests. This translates to more money in the local economy and more local jobs.
However, there is a growing patchwork of regulations from community to community and even neighborhood to neighborhood, including restrictive bans. This makes it very difficult and expensive for small businesses to comply. It also is difficult for communities to keep effective and enforceable ordinances on the books.
Traditional short-term vacation rentals are a primary accommodation option around the world and have been for decades. We urge you to embrace vacation rentals as part of your strong travel and tourism economy and protect property rights by ensuring a level playing field.
Thank you for your support. Together we can fight restrictive regulations and bans affecting vacation rentals. Please share this petition with your friends.
